Sexual harassmet

A young woman, frightened by one of her colleagues.

A young, frightened woman.

This case study concerns a 26 year-old woman, employed in the administration department of a metal factory. One of the men in the production line frighthens her. When he meets her in the company area, he always comments on her looks. When no others are around, he puts his arms around her and suggests that they should meet after work and have a “cosy” time. She is now afraid to walk in the production area. Unfortunately, she needs to go there 1-2 times daily, because part of her work involves giving reports to the department manager..

Prevention and handling of harassment cases are the responsibility
of the management. Many companies do not have routines on these
issues, or if they have, they seldom use them when such a case
presents itself. Companies without such routines are often unable
to clear up the matter satisfactorily. This results in a negative
outcome both for the company and for the harassed person.

Prevention and handling of harassment cases are the responsibility
of the management. Many companies do not have routines on
these issues, or if they have, they seldom use them when a case
actually presents itself. The result tends to be that companies often
are unable to clear up the matter in a constructive way and within a
reasonable time. This results in a negative outcome both for the
company and for the harassed person.

a) Declaration

Each and every company should have a declaration from the top
management that underlines the organisation’s commitments to the
workers, which clearly states that all employees have a right to be
treated with respect and dignity. This information should be easily
accessible and every worker should be informed about it. Repeating
information about this issue in staff meetings will help to create a
culture of “zero-tolerance” to harassment.

MOLESTIE  SESSUALI
A young, frightened woman.

A sign saying "Stop sexual harassment"

a)    Dichiarazione

Others may consider a creative mind to be a strong  indicator of health. Still others may think the greatest  determinant is a happy, fulfilling life. Whatever your definition, most people agree that “health”  has a mental component. The World Health Organization  (WHO) defines health as “a sta...

BIOCIDES and THYROID CANCER

The association between  occupational exposure to biocides and pesticides through a job-exposure matrix and thyroid cancer was examined by some researchers using data from a population-based case-control study involving 462 incident thyroid cancer cases and 498 controls in Connecticut collected in 2010-2011. It was observed that individuals ever-exposed to biocides had a high risk of thyroid cancer  ( OR=2.18, 95% Cl 1.28 to 3.73) No significant association between occupational exposure and cancer was found.

Is Botox able to help with depression? Consequently used for Occupational Medicine ?

·                                    Is Botox able to help with depression? Consequently used for Occupational Medicine ? The idea that Botox (botulinum toxin A) could help with  depression is being explored by, Allergan, despite the latest  trial showing patchy results. Based on the “facial feedback” hypothesis, which holds that  facial movement can influence emotional experience,  Allegan  is hopeful the drug’s anti-wrinkle and anti-frowning  formula can  be used to improve mood. Anecdotal evidence suggests Botox is already used off-label  for this purpose. Yet results from a phase II study of almost 260 patients show  that Botox is unable to meaningfully reduce depression after  six weeks compared with placebo. ...
