Early retirement costs too much. Norway has just found a solution to this problem, especially St Olav's Hospital.  How?  By a senior policy with its trade unions and external consultants.  Here is the programm :     Every emplyee from the age of 55 can have :      additional leave or 'senior days'   pension information   mentoring co-workers   discussions of work ability in appraisals       So older workers  can have access to  training, education leave and career counselling.     According to the Work Research Institute, there is  both an increase by six months in the average retirement age and high levels of job satisfaction.     Development programmes and extra leave seem to be the most valuable factors reported by older workers.     St Olav's policy was recognised nationally and its success factors are :   commitment by top management   stakeholder involvement   flexible decision-making   long-term focus
